KANDINSKY PAPER WEAVING

1st Grade

In this lesson students will analyze Kandinsky Circles and interpret them into a paper weaving. This lesson focused on art history and fine motor skills.

CLAY FISH WALL HANGERS

2nd Grade

Cassie Stephens inspired lesson.
In this lesson students will explore clay as an art tool while creating expressive fish relief sculptures. Students also explored resit painting by using oil pastels and watercolor to color their fish.

EXPLOSION BOOK

3rd Grade

In this lesson students will be introduced to chameleons and bookmaking. Students will focus on warm and cool while creating organic shapes for their chameleons to blend into. After, students decorated the cover of their book.

COLOR STAR BOOKS

4th Grade

In this lesson students analyzed the Japanese culture of origami and the technique of book making. They created star books focusing on symmetry and paper folding throughout.

ADJECTIVE, ADJECTIVE, NOUN BOOKS

5th Grade

In this lesson students explored how to creatively write and draw with only descriptive words. Students wrote a story based on their 2 adjectives and 1 noun, then drew a picture of the story. Students also explored the techniques of bookmaking.

DALE CHIHULY INSPIRED CREATIONS

5th Grade

In this lesson students will analyze Chihuly’s artwork and interpret what they have seen into their own work of Chihuly inspired art. Students will create 1 piece that will be combined with the class to create 1 installation, and a second piece for experimentation with color and shape.

MONOPRINT BOOK

6th Grade

In this lesson to students will explore the process of printmaking and create original works of art focusing on experimentation and art elements. After creating the prints, students learned bookmaking techniques to transform their prints into a squash book.
